​Overview
Saint Lucia is a mountainous island located in the Eastern Caribbean and is divided into nine (9) districts. The island home to the world-famous Pitons, which have been designated as a World Heritage Site. This volcanic island hugs both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and is a close neighbour to Barbados, Martinique and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.  In addition to being a former British colony, Saint Lucia was once colonised by the French. There is still a heavy French influence as Saint Lucian's speak a French patois in addition to English. Saint Lucia is considered as one of the fastest developing economies among the OESC countries. Agriculture and Tourism are major revenue earners; however, the former has declined due to changes in global trade agreements.
